Community Council Network Event - Integrating Mission and Margin…. Why is it Important

Speaker: Rachel Covington, Executive Director, Community Value Alliance
An organization’s mission defines the purpose of the organization and drives the direction. However, if the organization has difficulty realizing resources & understanding business acumen, the mission is in danger of being effective. This session is dedicated to aligning the mission and the resources (margin) necessary to keep the organization sustainable and ultimately expand the organization’s horizon. Doing this under Best-Practice guidelines.
During this session, Rachel will discuss the origins of philanthropy, the social responsibility that goes with nonprofit’s direction and purpose and then examine real life case studies of organizations which have utilized the integration of mission and margin against those organizations which have not done so. Then Rachel will pose questions to the attendees on the material presented and spur open discussion.
Highlights and Take-Aways include:
- Nonprofits are a business
- Following Best Practices ensures quality within the organization
- Nonprofits present social responsibility within a community
- Lessons learned through practical case studies
