Exciting Changes for Community Council in 2023

May 30th Update:

We Moved

We would love for you to stop by and see us at 80-Twenty Studios.

May 22nd Update:
Moving Week
It's moving week!!! Thank you all for so much love and support for all things Community Council. The rest of our office furniture will be donated and picked up this week on Thursday so that will be our official last day at the Community Commons. We would love for you to stop by and see us in our new location at 80-Twenty Studios on Highway K. We will be hosting a ribbon cutting later this summer as well as planning a couple other fun opportunities to get together and show off the new space.

For the past 6 months, Community Council has been preparing for a physical location move after being housed in the Community Commons for 10 years. This space was built in partnership with the library as a "community engagement center designed to support nonprofit, government and community organizations."

"The Community Commons is a dedicated library center that emphasizes sound business practices, partnering, and collaborative activities as a way of improving the community's nonprofit infrastructure and making the quality of life in St. Charles better."

Priorities change. History is forgotten. But, CHANGE BRINGS OPPORTUNITY! Although the Community Commons, as we know it, will no longer exist, we are excited to start a new chapter making connections and leading the community from a new location!

March 21st Update:

new location

We have narrowed down our search for our new location!!! Our Transition Team has done lots of research, gathered all of the information, looked at many, many, many potential locations and we feel we are close to making a decision. The proposal will be presented to the Community Council Board of Directors at the upcoming Board Meeting on Tuesday, March 28th!

A friendly reminder for our members that have room reservations scheduled through the end of the year: We are working with the library to ensure a smooth transition for you as they gear up to take over management of all things meeting rooms and room reservations. More details to follow.

Thank you all for the continued support and for continuing to make these connections for us! We can't wait to continue our mission and journey with you from a NEW LOCATION!!!

March 1st Update:
Things are getting exciting over here at Community Council! When life gives you lemons, make lemonade!

We have had so many people reach out to us with suggestions and opportunities for our next home. After touring many, many, many potential locations, we are excited to say that we have narrowed the selection down to 4 properties! We hope to be able to share more soon!

Side note: Two of the locations are furnished, but two of them are not. We might be looking for some new (to us) office furniture. Please reach out to us if you have any connections.

Thank you again for your continued support.

January 26th Update:
We continue to be amazed at the positive support from the community during our transition from our physical location in the Community Commons at the Spencer Road Library.

Are you familiar with the telephone game? The first person whispers something to the next person and they repeat it to the next person, and the next, and so on. By the end of the line, the last person says what they heard. If all goes as planned, the last person repeats what the first person said. But how many times is the message the same? So many details get lost in the translation.

As you hear information and as you are sharing information, please be sure that it is the correct information. Community Council is indeed looking for a new home as library leadership has chosen to end the 10 year partnership between the library and Community Council. The official vote was to not renew the MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) effective 8/1/23. Please reach out to us directly if you have any questions.

January 9th Update:
THANK YOU for all who have reached out to us with thoughts, recommendations and opportunities as we search for a new home for Community Council. As we continue to search for office space, something else we will be needing are potential locations to host our Monthly Network Luncheons beginning in August of this year. These fall on the first Thursday of each month from 11am-1pm. Space requirement would be for up to 100 people and that we would be able to bring in a catered lunch. Please reach out to us with suggestions! We already have a few members on our radar but thought we would give the community an opporunity to be a part of the search. We are looking forward to taking the Network Luncheons ON THE ROAD! is for Community Council Members that utilize the meeting space here at Community Commons. The St. Charles City-County Library has issued a new policy but they have assured us that all Community Council Member reservations currently in the system through the end of 2023 will be honored. Later in 2023, both patrons of the library and members of Community Council will reserve rooms directly through the library. Please CLICK HERE for the library website and detailed information and policies. CLICK HERE for the new C275 Room Reserve policy which took effect 1/3/23.

New Room Reservation System. THIS CHANGE AFFECTS ANYONE BOOKING A MEETING ROOM. Effective January 3, 2023, the St. Charles City-County Library is using a new room reservation system called Library Market. In the initial testing, we have found it to be user friendly especially when a room charge is involved. Community Council is working to transfer current reservations to Library Market place. The new system will require a Library Card to complete reservations going forward (in the current system, a Library card was not required).

If you have a library card for your organization, please provide it to Jessica at the time of room reservation. If you do not have one for your organization, you can follow this link for the application: https://www.stchlibrary.org/get-library-card and bring to the library information desk for completion.

Nothing will be canceled and we will have visibility of reservations in the old system for a bit. We would like to have this completed by January 20, 2023. If you have any questions, please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
